2026 requirements & changes
Mandatory closed test (12 testers × 14 days)
Since 2023, all new developer accounts must go through a closed test before accessing production.
Minimum targetSdkVersion: 34 (Android 14)
New apps must target at least Android 14. Updates to existing apps had until end of 2024.
AAB format mandatory
APK format is no longer accepted for new publications. Use Android App Bundle (.aab).
Complete Data Safety section
Mandatory declaration of collected, shared, and encrypted data in your Play Store listing.
Identity verification
Since 2024, Google verifies the identity of new developers (individuals and organizations).
